4th Season Roundup

Written by Time Indaiatuba at 20:14 24/5-2018

  Targets from last season:

  1 – Don't drop below Division 7 - PASSED
  2 – Win a race Division 6 or higher - PASSED
3 – Find a young Brazilian rider to lead the team in the future - FAILED

Indaiatuba really kicked things into a new gear this season. We scored our highest points total so far (461), reaching Division 4 in the process and only dropping as low as Division 6. We were also able to comfortably become the top ranked Brazilian team. Long may it last.

Primary team captain Rubert Smidt got his first tour result, finishing 8th in the Monte Rosa Tour and 3rd in the YC. Teammates Mauritio Zerbino, William 'Billy' Rymes, and Orest Baranowski were later brought in to help him. Heading into the Edmonton Red Deer Tour (a hill-centric tour), the team was excited, but unfortunately he failed to place on any stages.

After a spell without results in division 4, Indaiatuba dropped down and were able to secure a string of strong places in division 5 and 6. Disappointed not to have won a race this season, but content with some strong results, team boss Jime started gearing up for the next season by securing the contract of hill sprinter Mark Turnbow. But the team's Polish allrounder Orest Baranowski wasn't finished...

On day 88, in the final race of the season, Baranowski pulled out a magnificent win to drag the team back into Division 4.

Now we start looking to the team's 5th season, aware that climbing the divisions will be a slower process now, we're going to continue strengthening and trying to get some better results in tours.

  Points: 461

Rank: 1st in Brazil, 241st in the world

   Wins: 1

   Total Results: 8

Rider of the year: Rubert Smidt

   Best Domestique: Mauritio Zerbino

   Targets for Season 45:

   1 – Achieve a top 9 finish at a tour

2 – Beat previous season points total (461)

3 – Go through the whole season as 1st ranked Brazilian team
